What is Role Positive Gaming?

Role playing games, or RPG’s, have been around since the 70’s. We’ve all heard of Dungeons and Dragons, though maybe not what it means to play in a game. Since the days of D&D however, role playing games have evolved with new systems and genres, and has expanded to include technology like consoles and computers to live action games. What they all share is a foundation in social cooperation and the expansion of imagination.
As a person diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder I have used role playing games as a coping mechanism for as long as I can remember. Through role playing I was able to exert a measure of control over my imagined world that I never felt I had outside of gaming. I was able to use critical thinking and problem solving skills, all while indulging my creative side. As my character, I was able to affect positive change in fantastic ways, and the bad guys didn’t get to win. I personally credit RPG’s for surviving my teens and early twenties.

This is why I decided to apply my love of gaming, and my personal experiences to build something founded on inclusivity and embracing other people who find themselves marginalized. As a Boy Scout growing up, I learned the virtue of community service. As a result, I have wanted to create ways to help others, so I tapped my creative mind and found a way to incorporate my love of roleplaying games with some form of altruism.
The idea
To create a campaign setting built on a foundation of lore while also promoting a sandbox method for individual expression.
There are so many people that use roleplaying to express themselves creatively or explore personas that better align with their own identities. Through my own personal experiences, and from having a brother that owns a game store, I know there is a large community of gamers, both new and veteran, who seek a fun gaming experience that also makes them feel safe. This is why I want to use my skills as an experienced facilitator to open up groups for players who may not have found a game that appreciates diversity and acceptance.

OUR VISION
At Role Positive Gaming, it is our mission to promote roleplaying that is fun, inclusive, and safe. Diversity is a staple of just about every campaign setting, and that should be reflected and respected in the people who play them.
WHAT WE DO
Role Positive Gaming is dedicated to producing gaming materials related to our home brew campaign setting of Sol' Boreal. In addition we will stream live game sessions that take place within this setting as well as informative streams detailing the creation process of the world and related materials.
OUR COMMUNITY
Our community is, well, anyone with a critical mind, open heart, and a creative spirit. We welcome all people from the roleplay curious to the veteran character actor. If you want to be a part of epic stories and maybe drop a die or two, you're already one of us. Come in and say hello.
